Important to Note - Ensuring Accountability
As an organization that trustees, we are obligated to follow strict policies and procedures to ensure we have our checks and balances in order. The policies in place ensures we are aligned with CRA regulations, funders’ and Board of Directors requirements. We are not an organization that simply just flows money to the trusteed groups. Instead, the foundation of our trusteeship and organizational mentors strives to ensure the organizations we support receive the best mentorship and resources The Neighbourhood Group can offer.
Our trusteeship fee is 15%. This amount goes directly into ensuring the proper infrastructures are in place to support the distinct needs of each trusteed organization. Please visit the What is Trusteeship? page on our website to find out more about the services we offer.
Upon approval of trusteeship, an agreement will be presented to you. This agreement outlines all the policies and procedures that the Trustee Hub needs to follow to ensure a transparent and accountable relationship. This agreement will include, but not limited to: the amount and frequency in how much we can release to groups weekly, specific requirements needed from the trusteed group/organization and any other policies that pertain to the legal obligations both parties are responsible for.
Our Trusteeship Approval Process:
1) Upon receiving the Trusteeship Approval submission from a group/organization, the Trustee Hub team will review the application and complete a risk assessment and alignment to the vision and mission of the larger organization.
2) Depending on the amount of funds that requires trusteeship, the approval will come from either
senior management or the Board of Directors.
3) The Trustee Hub in turn will also connect directly with the funder to discuss expectations and deliverables.
4) If approved, the Trustee Hub team will contact the group/organization to set up an onboarding meeting. This meeting will go over the trusteeship agreement, expectations, and financial systems. Trustee Hub team will further examine the group/organization’s work plans and budgets together to create a personalized mentorship and support plan.
5) Groups that are not approved for trusteeship will receive an email communication with a written rationale.
