On December 5 th , Our ImpactRoots Program culminated in a vibrant and celebratory graduation event, marking the successful conclusion of a five-week journey to empower non-profit organizations. The program was hosted by Benjamin Miller of the Ontario Nonprofit Network and brought together 13 remarkable groups from across Toronto, each committed to creating positive change in their communities.

The ImpactRoots Program was designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of obtaining charitable status in Canada while equipping them with tools to enhance their organizational sustainability and effectiveness. Over five virtual workshops, participants delved into topics ranging from governance and compliance to strategic planning and resource development, gaining invaluable insights to help advance their missions.

The graduation event was a memorable evening of inspiration and connection. Guests were treated to a delicious catered meal and had the opportunity to network and celebrate their accomplishments. The event featured insightful talks on community building by Rachel Wang of Bike Brigade and Gregory McFarlene of Studio 145 Initiative, who shared their experiences and strategies for fostering collaboration and impact.

Certificates were presented to each participating organization, recognizing their dedication to learning and growth. These organizations represent diverse missions and innovative approaches to addressing critical community needs:

- Mental Health Matters

- Stay Golden Outreach

- Haitians of Toronto

- BWIM

- Toronto Futbol Athletic Advancement

- Power of Love

- Inner Child Curative Inc

- Pace Your Peace

- Brown Citizen Circle

- Empower The Youth Foundation

- Starts With One

- Selflove Youth Wellness Empowerment

- Human Nature Projects Canada

Together, these groups embody the spirit of collaboration and resilience and the ImpactRoots Program was proud to support their efforts to build stronger, more equitable communities.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to United Way Toronto, whose generous support made this program possible. Their commitment to fostering meaningful change and empowering grassroots organizations was instrumental in the success of ImpactRoots and in advancing the important work of these 13 groups.

The evening was not only a celebration of hard work but also a reflection of the program’s core values: fostering connections, sharing knowledge, and empowering change-makers to amplify their impact. The success of this initiative highlights the importance of providing non-profit organizations with the tools and resources they need to thrive.

We look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of these incredible organizations as they implement what they’ve learned and further their missions. Congratulations to all the participants of the ImpactRoots Program—your dedication and passion inspire us all!
