This session will explore it means to work across differences and establish a collective voice through strategic communication.
This workshop is for young leaders (ages 18-29) with youth-serving programs based in Toronto (or the surrounding area's) and our trusteed group leads.

In this 90 minute workshop, participants will talk about the basics of strategic communication as it relates specifically to anti-oppressive, justice-seeking work. We will share processes that build community through creative collaboration, and workshop messaging in ways that meet our audiences where they’re at, finding and sharing our collective voices.
What skills/tools participants will leave with:
1. Writing a self-initiated creative brief
2. Evaluating messaging against the objectives of the brief
3. Understanding audiences and allies in strategic ways to better target our communications materials
4. Building hierarchy (visual and written) around your communications outreach
The Trustee Hub will continue to provide training's to support you in building a strong foundation for your work to have maximum impact during this Pandemic and beyond.

Sheila Sampath (she/they) is an artist, activist designer, and educator living and working in Toronto. She is the Principal and Creative director at The Public, a community-centred design studio founded on principles of social justice and anti-oppression, the Editorial and Art Director of Shameless magazine, a national feminist magazine for teen girls and trans youth and a Professor in the Digital Communications Program at Humber College. In 2020, she was named a YWCA Toronto Woman of Distinction, for her work in transforming the lives of women and girls through the arts.
